Pink And Green Polka Dot Wedding Invitations

K's Choice ... a good choice??

When I was twenty, in the 90s, a Belgian group scored me a lot, so much that I bought all their albums . This is K's Choice , a formation created in 1993 under the name of The Choice, by Sarah Bettens and her brother Gert (photo cons).

What I could listen to their typical 90's rock. I wonder if I never got disgusted. Besides, I had almost forgotten.
My friends claim that I saw them in concert in Montpellier in the early 2000s, but I have no recollection. I must say they did everything to be forgotten since 2002, the brother and sister have decided to suspend the group to try solo careers.

And then, in 2009, K's Choice reformed, recorded a new album and embarked on a European tour. And they were Friday night in Montpellier on the scene in my favorite room, the Rockstore .

But yes, I'm sure you remember K's Choice and especially blockbusters, Not an Addict, released in 1996:

The concert left me with an impression rather mixed. I will not dwell on the first part, another Belgian group called Arid . They had already started playing when my friends and I arrived at Rockstore and I have listened with half an ear.

When technicians K's Choice began installing instruments, they placed three chairs on the stage it got a bit worried. And rightly so because when the group made its debut, Sarah announced that the concert would be in two parts, a first and a second more acoustic rock.
The first part lasted one hour, all group members were seated and I almost fell asleep. It was beautiful, but soft!

I still enjoyed Butterflies Instead :

I do not see much use for this type of benefit. is probably fun in a tiny room but Rockstore ... Temple Montpellier rock! In addition, being seated prevented much of the public to see the band. In short, not really a success.

Another "intermission" between the two sides and finally it started to move. The second began with a piece well paced, Hide :

The second set was much more pleasant than the first. The beautiful Sarah has not lost his voice and his charisma. And she really fishing, when she does it.

During another time, K's Choice chained good songs, mostly from the old albums. Here, I confess that I Kiff. I almost feel my soul to find a student.

A song I really like, Believe :

The end of the concert was as disconcerting as the beginning. The group agreed two encores, both starting with a ballad ... some damage after a hour as rhythmic. The public would have made a good dose of Mr. Freeze, but you can not have it all.
We still had a good Everything for free:

I was finally convinced by this show moderately. In fact, half rock would have been enough, we never change ...
After the concert, we could have stayed at Rockstore for a few drinks in a good atmosphere but we were gently pushed toward the exit.

is not so bad because we pushed up Chez Paul [e] , my favorite bar, which ended an evening "Oysters sound" in a great atmosphere. But then, you'll undoubtedly hear about very soon on another great blog, aperitif Friday.

Somebody to Love ...

My weekend was very busy and very nice concert, rugby match, lunch on the beach, sun terrace ...
So, I have not had time to write the article I planned for today's concert K's Choice I attended Friday night. It should be ready Tuesday or Wednesday.

In the meantime, I offer an article I below the elbow and is not unrelated to the previous the concert Queen cover band. Indeed, doing some research on Queen, I realized that Somebody to Love was the title of not less than five different songs.

As you know, I love to glean information on the history of love songs, stories that revolve around their composition or their record and offer articles on these songs . This curiosity about
Somebody to Love appeared to be an interesting subject for an article.

I'll do them in chronological order, beginning in 1963 by the Somebody to Love Brad Newman. It's rare enough to be noticed, I have not found anything on the Web about this singer. As for her song, I just know it has been adapted into French by Eddy Mitchell on his first 45 solo, as the When it's love .
Plexi twist:

In 1966 came a Somebody to Love best known and certainly more successful. First performed by the band Great Society, Jefferson Airplane, which is make this song famous in 1967. Decidedly psychedelic, she was particularly taken by the Ramones in 1995, in a style a little more rock. I also like version of Jim Carrey in the movie Cable Guy in 1996. Here

Jefferson Airplane at the Monterey festival in 1967

We're in 1976, with the famous Somebody to Love Queen . Written by Freddie Mercury, the song appears on the album A Day at the Races . Like
Bohemian Rhapsody, released last year, Somebody to Love includes a complex melody and choruses recorded several takes, under an arrangement gospel. This mix has been created from multiple recordings of the voices of Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor to give the impression of a choir of over 100 people.

reads in concert from 1982:

I warn you, the next two tunes are far less interesting than the previous two.
In 2009, Somebody to Love is the first single from the actress (and singer) American Leighton Meester . Admittedly, the starlet is physically intelligent, but good at music, it's not that ...

As for Somebody to Love most recent, dating from last year. The song is the work (so to speak) of the idol Canadian pre-teen, the singer's hairstyle playmobil ... I am of course referring to Justin Bieber . Here too, more is not my cup of tea.
Despite the involvement of Usher, I found this rather bland music ... Normally I'm a guy and I'm too old.

I'm not sure what to conclude from this article. Perhaps, simply, that many songs can carry the same title, a beautiful song, and not the same quality musical ...
Sorry, I just came from a small flu and I'm still a little slow.

The Show Must Go On??

Last Friday I went to a concert at the Zenith a bit peculiar. It was a cover band, a cover band called Cover Queen and which, as its name suggests, offers a show in tribute to the legendary British band Freddie Mercury.
Such groups have multiplied in recent years and knows some success. The best known are the Rabeats which include the Beatles and fill large rooms.

I had already experienced this type of experience VoiceFest 2010 with a cover band Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb , and I had not really been excited. So I went with some trepidation. It must be said that if I love the times I have a little trouble with identical times. I do not see what that brings.
Anyway, one of my friends wanted to go and I told myself that this would create a new item for your favorite blog ...

Before going further, here is what it gave, A Kind of Magic :

As you can see, I have not yet able to adjust the microphone (too sensitive) from my new camera and sound saturates. It's a shame because it does not realize quality musical and vocal group. But I will.

Two groups have succeeded in the first part of Cover Queen. I do not tell you much because their performance did not really marked. The only thing of interest was the look of the bassist's first group. I loved this style biker back on the artificial (pictured above).

Finally, the headliners came on stage.

The first impression was not very good. Indeed, the singer and band leader, Frederick Caramia is a little wrapped and held close to the body do not put really worth.
His costumes, apparently intended to resemble those of Freddie Mercury, are rather "cheap" and does not contribute seriously to the performance. Not to mention the "Freddie Mercury attitude" passed by the singer, her arm raised and a half mic stand ...

But this is only the first visual impression, and is quickly replaced by a second, this time hearing:

Very quickly, one is amazed by the capabilities of the singer, who shows a remarkable vocal range, and the quality of music. The "Brian May" group, Adrien Husson, mastered the six-string and his solos are amazing.

One begins the game, you start to waddle, to clap the rhythm of the music, take the chorus with the singer, it's fun and a little disconcerting.

Frederick Caramia was trained lyric, which partly explains his vocal abilities. In 2005 he decided, with his brother Alexander, drummer, to create one group to pay tribute to his idol, who died in 1991 (and yes, 20 years).
Other group members will soon join them to form Cover Queen and ride the roads of France by chaining concerts.

Finally, during the entire concert, only the "Opera" of Bohemian Rhapsody was recorded , Freddie Caramia even playing the piano intro:

After one three quarter pipes, musicians left the stage to return a few minutes and finish with a few favorites such as We Are The Champions , as follows: Final

There were between 2000 and 3000 people in Zenith (in reduced configuration) and I am quite certain that the vast majority has passed, like me, good evening. In fact, I wonder if I would have preferred that this is a bad cover band. If this were the case, I would not be out of the show with a little feeling of unease, a sort of guilty conscience ...
I think I will not renew the experience too often, there are enough good bands that play their own compositions!

Come on, sing like Freddie The Show Must Go On !
